The company primarily produces 53-degree sauce-aroma baijiu, offers brand agency services, OEM processing, bulk liquor sales, and personalized custom orders. With a registered capital of 20 million RMB, the company has four subsidiary branches. It is an industrial group integrating the production, sales, and investment management of sauce-aroma baijiu. The predecessor of Dafu Distillery was the Lao Lai Mao Distillery, whose founder, Lai Yongchu, was one of the founders of Maotai liquor. In 1862, the “Hengchang Distillery” was established in Maotai Town, Guizhou Province. In 1892, Lai Yongchu personally invested to acquire the Maotai “Hengchang Distillery” jointly operated by him, Zhou Bingheng, and Jia Wenqin, and subsequently renamed it the Maotai “Hengxing Distillery,” taking sole ownership and commencing independent production of Hengxing Mao liquor. Relying on strong financial resources, Lai Yongchu immediately expanded and upgraded the distillery’s facilities. At that time, the distillery mainly used sorghum and wheat as raw materials for its liquor production and hired brewers from the Chengyi Distillery to craft the liquor. The resulting liquor featured a rich, mellow sauce aroma; when opened, its fragrance filled the room and lingered long after. It had a full-bodied taste yet did not cause dryness or dizziness even after drinking heavily. As a result, “Lai Mao” enjoyed great fame both within and outside the province, as well as internationally.
